Advanced Technological Systems International Limited (“ATSI”) is a specialist UK designer and manufacturer of advanced power management systems for military, law enforcement, and other mission-critical applications.
Since the 1990s, ATSI has supplied MOD-commissioned battery systems and established a reputation for delivering highly reliable, ruggedised power solutions for use in demanding operational environments.
Driven by increasing demand for its specialist power technologies, the company continues to focus on the design and manufacture of advanced battery and critical power systems, remaining at the forefront of bespoke power management solutions for defence and law enforcement agencies worldwide.
Military applications demand the highest standards of safety, durability, and operational reliability, often in extreme climatic and environmentally hostile conditions. Commissioned by the British MOD, ATSI was tasked with developing a power source that was safe, cost-effective, and unrestricted in transportability.
Recognising the rapid evolution of battery technologies and the increasing need for sophisticated power management systems, ATSI undertook extensive research into alternative battery chemistries. The objective was to create a versatile military power solution capable of continuing to operate even after sustaining bullet or shrapnel impact, whilst eliminating the risks associated with fire and toxic gas emissions. Equally important was the requirement for unrestricted transportation under Class 9 Dangerous Goods exemptions.
This research led to the development of ATSI’s advanced Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery technology — widely regarded as one of the safest and most durable battery solutions available today.
Through years of dedicated research and development, ATSI has achieved performance levels significantly beyond original manufacturer specifications, particularly in temperature tolerance and cell longevity. Unlike lithium-based technologies, ATSI’s Ni-MH batteries are exempt from Dangerous Goods transport restrictions and can therefore be shipped without the specialist handling requirements typically associated with lithium batteries.
ATSI products have been repeatedly supplied to organisations including the British MOD, the US Marine Corps, and the Canadian Army, amongst others.
All ATSI systems are designed with lightweight portability, operational resilience, and ease of transportation in mind. Combined with a high level of ruggedisation, they are ideally suited to field deployment and demanding operational use.
Alongside its ruggedised Ni-MH battery range — available from 1Ah to 1000Ah and in virtually any voltage configuration — ATSI also designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and Critical Power Supply Units.
ATSI provides a fully bespoke design and engineering service, tailoring each solution to the precise operational requirements of its clients in order to deliver reliable, mission-specific power solutions.
